There is a quality of interest in “two” of anything. Cells duplicate, birds mate, lovers meet, we have two hands, two feet, binary code, and on, on, on…  And there’s a special interest in what lies in the space between – what connects, integrates, repels.  Both the fusion and tension that occurs in those spaces is fertile ground for artistic interpretation.
This exhibition explores the Space between Two through the medium of printmaking and takes many forms: prints, books, sculpture, textiles and video.

“Going Within: Self-Portraiture as Medicine” at the MAP Gallery, Eastworks Building, 116 Pleasant St., Easthampton, MA

MAP Gallery hours: Wednesday–Saturday from 12–5, Closed Sun-Tues

“As a photographer, self-portraiture has been a way to work through my feelings of loss, love, and fear, in a way I cannot seem to do otherwise,” explains curator, Tracey Eller. “The beauty of it is that it shows me myself.”

Art New England

Read about my social practice and curatorial work, featured in this month’s Art New England: “To Pop Up or Not: New England Galleries Go Nomadic?” by Julianna Thibodeaux

“We came to it both with this idealistic or very optimistic radical thinking that people need to make art, and we want to be a platform for that outside of commercial activities, because I think it really limits the kind of work that gets seen.”

A spread from an artist book by Esther S. White, 10 Things I Did Not Do, made for the 10X10: 2018 Artists’ Book/Zine Swap box set, curated and organized by Trevor Powers for Fugitive Arts.
