Portraits
This series of portraits is made from photographs of friends and acquaintances. I think of photographs as a version of reality: edited by the photographer. In these prints, I am editing that reality further, simplifying the image, making it truer emotionally.
The prints are drypoints, made by scratching directly into the plate surface. I use PETG plastic plates because they allow me to work quickly and spontaneously. All of the prints are 5"x5" on 11"x15" printmaking paper.
